France arrive at World Cup after China defeat
June 5th, 2010 - 10:30 pm ICT by IANSJohannesburg, June 5 (DPA) Former champions France arrived for the football World Cup in South Africa at dawn Saturday, still reeling from a stunning 0-1 defeat against China in a tune-up match.
Playmaker Franck Ribery and his team-mates arrived at George in the Western Cape province and set off for their base camp some 100 kilometres east in Knysna.
France arrived from the island of Reunion where they were ambushed 0-1 by China on Friday in a slow and imprecise showing.
France have been drawn into Group A at the World Cup along with hosts South Africa, Uruguay and Mexico. They open against Uruguay Friday in Cape Town.
