Fran McCaffery Appointed As Iowa Coach

fankIowa City, Mar 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It is now official that Fran McCaffery would be the coach of the University of Iowa’s men’s basketball team. The news that the 50 year old much acclaimed coach would now be heading the Iowa Hawkeyes has been confirmed by the school in a release on Sunday.

It has also been revealed that Fran McCaffery would be formally introduced as the basketball coach of the University of Iowa in a press conference that is scheduled to be held on Monday, in the Iowa City. Gary Barta, the athletic director at Iowa, confirmed the news that the school has finally been successful in gaining the confidence of the ex-Siena coach, who was now ready to take up responsibilities as the coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

With the appointment of Fran McCaffery, the former Siena coach becomes the successor of Todd Lickliter, who was terminated from his coaching duties after the University of Iowa men’s basketball team in three seasons went 38-58, under Todd Lickliter’s coaching tips.

Meanwhile, insiders have stated that one of the major tasks that Fran McCaffery would have to take care of in the present Iowa Hawkeyes team is to ensure that all the key players are able to aptly make a contribution which would be fruitful in re-establishing the program. Fran McCaffery, who is known to have been coaching Lehigh as well as UNC Greensboro, has been associated with the Siena for about five seasons before he decided to join the University Of Iowa. During his tenure in Siena, Fran McCaffery was instrumental in leading the team to three successive NCAA tournaments.
