Four High school football players killed in crash

New Jersey, Aug 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An auto accident on Saturday morning resulted in the death of four football players of Mainland Regional High School in Linwood, N.J. The accident has shocked several people with sympathizers passing by the school to pay their tribute.

The accident happened on a hill in Garden State Parkway when the driver of the Ford Explorer lost control of the vehicle. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle rolled over several times and by the time that it was all over, three of the 8 passengers in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth one lost the battle in the hospital.

The eight people in the Ford Explorer were aged between 15 and 17 with none of them reaching the legal age to drive in New Jersey. Police say they have commenced an investigation into the accident.

The four students who died have been identified as 17-year-old driver of the vehicle Casey Brenner; 16-year-old Nicholas Conner; 16 year-old Edgar Bozzi and 15-year-old Dean Khoury.

The head coach of the team, Bob Coffey expressed his sadness over the accident. He described the players killed in the accident as exceptional. He believes that the team needs each other to overcome the tragedy. He said that, “I need them as much as they need me. We’ll just try to handle this in little pieces, in little chunks, just kind of take care of whatever is in front of us.”
