Foul-mouthed Rooney set to escape FA ban
April 4th, 2011 - 12:52 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr. 4 (ANI): The Football Association in Britain may not go ahead with plans to ban England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney for his recent foul-mouthed rant during a match against West Ham at Upton Park.
Rooney is likely to get a rap on his hands for the on field misdemeanor, The Daily Mail reports.
During the match, Rooney was heard using the F-word twice - the first after he converted his third goal and the second when he appeared to respond to a remark made off-camera.
FA chiefs resisted the temptation to act on the matter over the weekend so they could allow the whole disciplinary team to analyze the footage thoroughly before passing judgment.
Sports Mail also understands there was a fear within the FA that making a snap decision to charge the England striker could lead to litigation from United. (ANI)
