Former Tennis Star Jennifer Capriati Admitted To Medical Facility For Suspected Drug Overdose

June 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former tennis star Jennifer Capriati was admitted to a medical facility on Sunday after emergency officials are reported to have responded to a call of drug overdose. According to reports that have surfaced, an emergency call was placed to the paramedics to attend to the tennis star who had put up at the Reviera Beach hotel in Florida, from where she was rushed to a nearby hospital.
While talking about the present condition of Jennifer Capriati, her father revealed to a news source that the tennis star was doing well and was in the process of recovery. The latest incident of suspected drug abuse is the most recent episode in the long line of instance in the troubled life of the much-loved tennis star. Jennifer Capriati who was tagged as the ‘Can’t Miss Kid’ by the American media went on to win 14 career titles which included three Grand Slam victorious. However, her tremendous on-field ability was often obscured amidst the repeated instances of drug-abuse, insecurity and suicidal tendencies which made her hog more limelight than her professional expertise as a tennis player.
The tennis star, who made her professional debut at the young age of 13, was charged with possessing cannabis in the year 1994 which was followed by a stint in a drug rehabilitation center. After spending around two years, trying to regain her tennis career, Jennifer Capriati bagged the World No. 1 spot on October, 2001 after few successive victorious. However, by the year 2007, things again started taking a bleak turn for her and in July the same year, she accepted that she was suffering from depression and had suicidal thoughts.
