Former PCB chief claims all cricket-playing nations involved in match-fixing
September 21st, 2010 - 1:22 pm ICT by ANIKarachi, Sept 21 (ANI): In the wake of the spot-fixing scandal rocking Pakistan, former chief of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)- Arif Abbasi- has claimed that all cricket-playing nations are somehow involved in match-fixing.
In an interview, Abbasi said that though every team in world cricket was somehow linked with match-fixing, but everyone was only holding Pakistani players solely responsible for the promotion of this menace, due to a toothless PCB and cricket management in Pakistan, The News reports.
The PCB, by allowing anyone to raise fingers at the Pakistani team, had proved to be a weak body, he added.
He also raised fears that the fresh spate of match-fixing allegations, involving the Pakistan team, might result in transfer of the World Cup event from Asia.
“If India is wreaked with match-fixing scandal so the world might witness soon the shifting of World Cup 2011 from Asia”, he feared.
Abbasi also warned PCB chairman Ijaz Butt that instead of playing blame game, he should call for a meeting of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for solidarity against this international conspiracy, which might bring all Asian cricket-playing countries to the brink of disaster. (ANI)
