Melbourne, Jan 1 (ANI): Former Australian cricket coach John Buchanan, who believes the Aussies are suffering from systemic problems, says that the team is long overdue for a complete system overhaul.

Buchanan does not see the dramatic slide as a threat, and looks at it as a fantastic opportunity to raise the team up again, and solve the serious problems plaguing it.

There are broader issues there, the Daily Telegraph quoted him as saying.

They”ve been overlooked for a long period of time and now we”re starting to see the outcomes of those.

Its systemic and that’’s been the case for some period of time but while things were going well people chose to ignore them, he added.

Though he did not point out the problems involved in the game, he said that he had tried to address most of them during his charge from 1999 to 2007.

I think the real upside here, the real upside for everybody, is that it’’s a fantastic opportunity for administrators, coaches, players to actually stop and look at what’’s actually happening, and not just the immediacy of the results, he added. (ANI)
