pat burns Sep 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Three time Adams Trophy winner and former NHL league coach Pat Burns was said to have died this morning from complications die to lung cancer, as Tweeted by ‘Lightfoot’, however, his facebook supporters page, and a Tweet from The Montreal Gazette has stated that he is not dead. It seems as though the former hockey coach may be the victim of the latest celebrity death hoax scam online.

The last public appearance made by Burns was back in March of this year, at an arena near his place of birth in Magog, Quebec, where it was announced the the arena was to be named after him. He went back home again to Magog recently so that he could be near his family and friends in his last days.

Along with being a head coach on Montreal and Toronto in Canada, Burns also held that position in the American states of Massachusetts in Boston, as well as in New Jersey. During his career, his teams won over 500 games, and he lead the Devils to the Stanley Cup in 2003. It was the last championship for the team, and the only one for Burns.

He is already a two time cancer survivor, having beaten both liver and colon cancers. The diagnosis in 2005 of liver cancer ended his career but not his life. Burns is indeed a fighter, but was diagnosed in 2009 of an incurable lung cancer. This time, he decided to accept that it was time to go home, and he passed on further treatment.

A Facebook group has been formed to honor him, and to show support that he be inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame. There are currently over 71,000 members. Posted on this page is the following, “This from a member of the Burns family: “Pat is surprised to learn he’s dead.” Pat Burns, as of this moment, is still alive.”

Bob McKenzie (TSNBobMcKenzie) Tweeted, “Pat Burns just called me Seriously. Here’s what he said. “Here we go again. They’re trying to kill me before I’m dead…” Seems his sense of humor is still very much alive as well.
