Former New York Giants great Lawrence Taylor arrested for rape of young girl

RAMAPO, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) — Retired Hall of Fame American footballer Lawrence Taylor was arrested on Thursday in connection with a reported rape of an underage girl at a hotel in Ramapo, New York, police said.
The Town of Ramapo Police Department said it was investigating a reported rape that occurred in the early hours of Thursday at the Holidome Hotel in Montebello, a village in the Rockland County town of Ramapo.
“Currently under arrest is Lawrence J. Taylor DOB 2/4/59 of Pembroke Pines, FLA,” a statement from Ramapo police said. “Formal charges will be filed upon the completion of our investigation.”
A BNO News source said Taylor faces at least one charge of third-degree rape, which is a class E felony. Rape in the third degree indicates the victim could be under the age of 17.
According to The Journal News, a local newspaper, Taylor is being accused of raping a 15-year-old girl. It said the victim was reportedly beaten during the attack.
Police said additional information would be released at a press conference between 2 and 4 p.m. EDT.
