Mar 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The former Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player Willie Davis has been found dead in his home at the age of 69. Davis was found this morning (Tuesday) by a neighbor, who made it a habit to bring breakfast to the former center-fielder’s home on Victor Boulevard each morning. Authorities say that they see no reason to suspect foul play, and that it appears Davis died of natural causes. The Los Angeles County Coroner is handling the case, however.

Willie Davis was an All City athlete in many different sports while in high school at Roosevelt High in Boyle Heights. He attended high school in the late 50’s and then became a star for the Dodgers after they moved the team from Brooklyn New York, to Los Angeles, CA, in 1958. He was best in an offensive position, and was a Dodgers center fielder for 13 seasons, beginning in 1961. He batted .305 and up for three years in a row, and hit in 31 consecutive games, which was a team record. He also had The world record for making three errors in one inning during the World Series in 1966. The Dodgers were playing against the Baltimore Orioles. Although Davis left the Dodgers in 1973, he continued playing until 1979, when his final season was with the Angels.
