Arturo Gatti, the former boxing champion and one of the most amazing boxer of his generation, has been found dead in a Brazilian hotel room yesterday. The body was discovered in a blood splattered condition, with the evidence of a struggle that was quite prominent. Police authorities are suspecting the involvement of a possible foul play.
According to the reports on CBS network, Gatti was in his underwear when his body was found by his wife on Saturday morning at 6 a.m. There were blood stains on his neck and on the back of his head. Initial inspection had revealed that there was no bullet or stab wound. His wife and 10 month old son is reported to be unhurt, as has been stated by a spokeswoman from the state public safety department.
Police investigator Edilson Alvis has told the Associated Press, “It is still too early to say anything concrete, all though it is all very strange.” Bloodstains have also been found on the floor of the room he was found in. Francisco Assis, a local police investigator, has told G1 that it is most likely that Gatti had been dead a good 8 hours, before his body had been found.
37 year old Gatti, was reportedly on his second honeymoon with his Brazilian wife Amanda and their 10 month old son, and they had arrived at the tourist resort on Friday. The former boxing champion also known by the nickname “Thunder”, was supposed to testify in a trial in New York later in the week in a lawsuit filed by former opponent Joey Gamache, against the New York State Athletic Commission.
