Former Basketball Star Maurice Lucas Passes Away At 58

Portland, Nov 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former NBA star Maurice Lucas, who is known for his illustrious association with the Portland Trail Blazers, passed away on Sunday at his home in the city of Portland, Oregon. The power forward who later came to be known as “The Enforcer” breathed his last after a long battle with bladder cancer. He was 58 at the time of his unfortunate demise.
The news of Maurice Lucas’s death came to light when it was announced by the team Portland Trail Blazers. The 58-year-old former All-Star forward is known to have been suffering from cancer for quite some time now and last year, he also underwent a bladder surgery. However, earlier this year, the noted player was again admitted to a medical facility after a recurrence of cancer and had been struggling with the condition for some time now. The fact that Maurice Lucas is no more has left all his ardent fans devastated who are still grappling to come to terms with the fact that the celebrated basketball star is no more. Since the news of his death has been reported, condolences have been pouring in from various quarters.
In a statement that was released by Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan pointed out that with the demise of Maurice Lucas, a champion of man has been lost. The Trail Blazers coach further went on to describe the former NBA star as a ‘great man and great friend’ while adding that the 58-year-old former player fought his cancerous condition like a warrior he was on the basketball court.
