Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Sep 2 (IANS) Sahara Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg matched the team’s second best ever performance here at the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix Sunday.

The German driver bagged 12 points finishing fourth.

McLaren’s Jenson Button won the race in emphatic fashion clocking 1:29:08 hours. Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel finished second, 13.6 seconds behind while third place went to Lotus’s Kimi Raikkonen, another 12 seconds from Vettel.

Hulkenberg, who started the race in 12th position, reached third after a huge accident on the first corner of the first lap of the race involving McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, Lotus’s Romain Grosjean, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi. All four were out of the race with immediate effect.

Hulkenberg’s teammate Paul di Resta, starting 10th, reached fourth after the first lap incident. However, he lost out to others finally and finished 10th, clinching the last championship point.

The Vijay Mallya owned team last finished fourth in the 2009 Italian Grand Prix. Their best ever result also came in the same year when Italian Giancarlo Fisichella finished second here at Spa.

Force India are currently placed seventh in the constructor’s championship with 59 points.

India’s Narain Karthikeyan, however, did not have luck on his side. The HRT driver spun out of the race in the 33rd lap when he was in a respectable 15th position.
