London, Jan 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Veteran Blackpool football star, Jason Euell has filed for bankruptcy.

The star claimed in the court papers that he entered into a property business with a friend of his but it later turned out that he had been duped. He claimed that he realized rather too late that his signature has been forged several times. The forged signature allowed the perpetrators to take several amounts from the company’s account.

He said that, “’I recently noticed some financial discrepancies and discovered my signature had been forged on documents. I have now put a legal team in place to investigate this. I have also taken professional advice as a result of which I filed for bankruptcy”

The company eventually collapsed last year and Euell is asking the court to declare him bankrupt. He filed for the bankruptcy claims last Monday at the Kingston-upon-Thames County Court where the court documents were obtained.

According to the Sun, Euell who currently enjoys £7,500 wage for playing soccer has made about £6 million from his career which has spanned some 16 years.

Euell has retired from international duties for his country, Jamaica. Blackpool were recently promoted to the English Premier League.
