Arsenal London, Feb 20 (ANI): A gang of criminals has broken into the three million pound family mansion of footballer Theo Walcott, stealing electrical items and other valuables.

The incident took place Wednesday night when Walcott was playing for Arsenal in his side’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona, The Mirror reports.

The 21-year-old Premier League player had left the house in Hemel Hempstead, Herts, on Wednesday afternoon along with his girlfriend Melanie Slade, and his parents. Theo had reportedly bought the home for his parents and brother Ashley.

A police source said that Ashley’s VW Golf was also stolen, adding: “The thieves clearly targeted the property as they knew his family would be out at the match. This is an organised crime gang and we are looking at links to other footballers who have had houses raided. They took the Golf and carried out any electrical items they could find.”

Police have expressed fear that the gang cunningly the robberies by keeping an eye on the Premier League stars’ properties and attacking when they are on the pitch. They also said that the gang targets those player’s homes that appear glossy magazines.

Last year, Chelsea defender Ashley Cole’s house was targeted. Earlier, the homes of former Arsenal players Nwankwo Kanu and Marc Overmars were also attacked by burglars. (ANI)
