Flower lauds England bowlers for successfully utilising Kookaburra balls
December 31st, 2010 - 2:07 pm ICT by ANISydney, Dec 31(ANI): England coach Andy Flower has lauded his bowlers for turning the unfamiliar Kookaburra cricket balls, which was forecasted to be the team’s major weakness in Australia, into a significant strength in the ongoing Ashes series.
The ability of England’s bowling attack to move the Kookaburra ball both in the air and off the pitch is seen in some quarters as being the prime reason for the team’s success.
“The Kookaburra ball was much talked about before the series started, and there were a lot of things said about our bowlers not being able to use it as well as they do the Dukes,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Flower, as saying.
“But I think you have seen some very skilful bowling from our guys, who’ve worked very hard at it,” he added.
Flower also emphasised that bowling coach David David has played a massive part in the development of the team.
“Saker has been instrumental in their development, and Ottis Gibson prior to him. Those guys should feel very proud of what the bowlers have achieved,” the England coach said.
England currently leads the five-match series 2-1, with the final Test to be played in Sydney from January 2. (ANI)
