Alex Ferguson London, Mar 17 (ANI): Denying any rift with boss Alex Ferguson, ace striker Wayne Rooney has warned rivals that he feels fitter and stronger than ever as Manchester United goes for Treble.

Rooney believes having played fewer games due to injury, he is in better shape now than he was this time last season when he went on to finish with 34 goals.

“Definitely. In fact the last two or three weeks is the best I’ve felt all season. I feel sharp and if the manager needs me to get up and down the pitch, then fine,” he said.

“I haven’t played as many games, so I feel good. But the more you do play the more consistent you are and better you feel,” The Sun quoted Rooney, as saying.

Manchester United has a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League and face an FA Cup semi-final against neighbours Manchester City next month.

Rooney is confident they can continue their march to silverware. “I’m delighted we are still in three major competitions and it’s going well. I don’t think we need to prove anything to people - probably more to ourselves really.”

“We didn’t win the league last year or the Champions League and FA Cup, so we need to prove to ourselves we are capable of doing it. At the minute it’s going well and we think we can go far in each tournament,” Rooney said. (ANI)
