Fit again Bollinger hopes for Test recall
August 16th, 2011 - 8:45 pm ICT by IANSMelbourne, Aug 16 (IANS) A fit again Doug Bollinger is hoping that his ODI performance against Sri Lanka will force the Australian selectors to consider him for the upcoming South Africa Test series.
The left-arm fast bowler was dropped from the Australian Test squad against Sri Lanka because of poor fitness.
He, however, came up with solid performance in the first two one-day internationals in Sri Lanka, with an impressive 3-35 off 10 overs in Sunday’s thumping eight wicket win in Hambantota.
“I’ve been training with a guy that used to train Glenn McGrath,” Bollinger was quoted as saying in Herald Sun.
“That’s been going really well. I’m feeling really fit and feeling really strong at the moment.
“That’s the best thing I can do at the moment. I feel really good.”
Though he is going well in the limited-overs format, it’s a return to Test level Bollinger is seeking, with the tour to South Africa on the horizon.
“I’ve come over here with a clear head and a pretty fit body, and that’s what I’ve been trying to do,” Bollinger said.
“I’ve come over here to do what I can. I try and put my case forward and go from there.
“I’ve got the opportunities in these matches to keep bowling and doing well and hopefully I get the call, which would be a great honour.”
