Nov.14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Philippine professional boxer Z Gorres collapsed after winning a fight against Columbian Luis Melendez on Saturday in Las Vegas. The much acclaimed boxer who was later taken to the University Medical Center is said to be in a critical condition. It was later notified that the boxer had to undergo a emergency operation after which he is supposedly in a state of coma.

Reportedly after winning the fight, as Gorres was celebrating his victory he suddenly collapsed in the ring after suffering from ’subdural hematoma’ soon after the decision was revealed. Doctors at the hospital have said that the surgery had to done immediately in order to remove a clot from the boxer’s brain. It was also added that a part of his brain still remains swollen as a result of which the boxer is being kept under a close watch. In order to know more about his present condition, the doctors would be conducting further tests on the boxer in the next few days.

Although, yesterday’s match started between the Filipino and his Columbian opponent started on a slow note, it gradually started growing intense with both the boxers giving their best to win the fight. Gorres initially seemed to be in control of the fight after he knocked down Luis in the third round. Later, Luis came back in the fight around the last part of the fight but the Filipino was ultimately declared the winner by unanimous decision after the final bell rang. However, tragedy stuck soon after just as the boxer was enjoying his moment of glory.
