New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): International Hockey Federation (FIH) president Leandro Negre has reposed faith in the security assurances provided by Indian authorities to participating countries during the World Cup.

Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, Negre said: “We believe in authorities here and I think the authorities and security system in India will provide the best security for the World Cup.”

Negre mentioned that the FIH is gearing up to launch the game all around in the world through series of important events.

“2010 for IHF is a very important year. We have been allocated 2 World Cups, two very important - men’s here and the women’s in Argentina … because for women Argentina is very important country…. I think from the FIH that is the real moment to launch hockey all around the world and the best place to start with is here in Delhi,” added Negre.

India has already formed a security liaison group due to heightened safety fears over travelling to New Delhi for the Commonwealth Games also to be hosted here.

Twelve teams from Australia, Argentina, Canada, England, Germany, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Spain along with the host country India will be participating in the World Cup. (ANI)
