FIFA WC final referee’s mum says he should be left alone

Reacting to reports that Webb had received death threats from Dutch fans, his 64-year-old mother, Sylvia, said “The match must have been a nightmare for him. I was so deflated for Howard because he was so looking forward to it.”"Howard was treated like dirt by some of the best players in the world. They ruined his big game and he is very upset. The last thing he wanted to do was let anyone down,” The Sun quotred her as saying further.She said: “The World Cup final is supposed to be the best game on the planet - but all I saw was the players bullying my son.”
Webb, 38, issued 14 yellow cards and sent off Holland’s Johnny Heitinga during the World Cup final - a record. (ANI)
