FIFA: Maradona must stay away from World Cup
December 3rd, 2009 - 2:16 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )London, Dec 3(ANI): After rumours circulated that Argentina manager Diego Maradona might try to gain media accreditation for Friday’s World Cup draw in Cape Town, FIFA has said he must stay away from the event.
Maradona has been banned from all football activities for two months after his foul-mouthed TV outburst when his country qualified for the finals.
“It’s not just matches he has been banned from by the disciplinary committee, but all football activities,” The Sun quoted Jerome Valcke, FIFA General Secretary, as saying.
“If he’s coming as a journalist for a media company his accreditation will not be delivered,” he added. (ANI)
