JOHANNESBURG (BNO NEWS) — FIFA on Wednesday said it has filed charges against the organizers of a marketing stunt during Monday’s World Cup match between the Netherlands and Denmark.

Around 30 women, most of them South African, entered Soccer City dressed as Danish supporters on Monday. During the first half of the game, the women stripped to reveal their orange dresses.

Peer Swinkels, the President of Dutch brewery Bavaria, initially denied being involved with the women but later told Dutch news website Nu.nl that the company had paid the women. Although the dresses did not visibly show the Bavaria brand, there was a small tag with the Bavaria logo.

“FIFA has filed charges against the organizers of the Ambush Marketing stunt pulled during the Netherlands x Denmark match in Soccer City,” a spokeswoman told BNO News. “No charges have been filed against the young South African women used in this illicit activity.” Most of the women used in the stunt were South African, while several others were Dutch.

FIFA said the matter is now under criminal investigation by the South African Police Service, which is leading the investigation.
