‘Fiery’ Sami “mentally and physically” ready to torment Aussies
December 24th, 2009 - 2:22 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Karachi, Dec. 24 (ANI): Pakistan pacer Mohammad Sami has declared himself fully fit for the forthcoming Test series against Australia, and has staked his claim for a place in the national squad through a splendid display of fast bowling during a domestic match here, in which he took six wickets helping his team win the prestigious domestic tournament, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Talking to media persons after his fiery spell, Sami said he is eagerly waiting to play for Pakistan in the three-match series against the Aussies.
Sami has already been selected as a ‘reinforcement’ player for the series.
“I’m in good form and my fitness is excellent which is why I believe I’m ready for the Test series against Australia, both mentally and physically,” The News quoted Sami, as saying.
Sami, who last played for Pakistan during the 2007 India tour, bowled quick and grabbed 6 wickets for 38 runs helping his side, the Karachi Blues, win the final match by a mammoth 141 runs.
Sami’s victims included former Pakistan captain Younis Khan, who flopped again in the second innings.
“It’s the sort of spell that gives your confidence a big boost. To bowl well in the (Quaid-e-Azam Trophy) final and help your team win makes you feel great. I’m really pleased that it came just before the series against Australia,” Sami said.
He was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) last year after he sided with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), but the board revoked its decision after the right-handed speedster broke his ties with the Indian league. (ANI)
