Florence, April 21 (IANS/AKI) Ferrari has rejected reports of a rift between its drivers over pit entry overtaking manoeuvre at the Shanghai Grand Prix.
“There is no dispute between Alonso and Massa,” Ferrari president Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said. “They know what they need to do and will continue to drive with Ferrari and not only for themselves.”

Montezemolo was referring to the dispute that emerged between Spanish driver Fernando Alonso and his Brazilian team mate Felipe Massa after the Grand Prix in Shanghai Sunday. The Brazilian had overtaken his teammate as he entered the pit.

In the team website, Ferrari said Massa’a comments were “taken out of context” in an attempt to create a rift between him and Alonso.

Team boss Stefano Domenicali said after the clash that Massa might be upset. “I have to say that Fernando, he is a racer, and I have to say that Felipe behaved very, very well,” he said.

Meanwhile, Montezemolo said he hoped for a “third car” to compete in Formula One and his choice for a new pilot would be Italian motorcycle Grand Prix champion, Valentino Rossi.

“We want a third car and I would do everything to have Valentino. When he wins this year’s MotoGP, enough is enough, he must also win in Formula One,” Montezemolo said.
