Ferguson treats Rooney’s contradiction of his injury claims ‘water off a duck’s back’

London, Oct 16 (ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he is not affected by Wayne Rooney publicly contradicting his claim that he has been troubled by an ankle injury this season.
“In my experience it is important how you handle it. It’s water off a duck’s back really and it doesn’t mean anything. You’ve got to put it aside and know the real things that are happening at the club. It just passes off,” The Telegraph quoted Ferguson, as saying.
“I do not know where all these issues come from. The boy is always in the spotlight and he is always going to be addressed by the press wanting an interview or a quote from him,” he added.
Rooney is expected to return for United against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday after missing the club’s last two fixtures because of Ferguson’s concerns over the state of Roony’s left ankle, the paper said.
Earlier, Rooney said that Ferguson was wrong to claim that an injured ankle was the reason he missed games against Valencia and Sunderland.
“I’ve had no problems with my ankle all season,” Rooney had claimed. (ANI)
