Ferguson says won’t be surprised if Berbatov quits Man U

London, Sep 19 (ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said he would not be surprised if star striker Dimitar Berbatov thought about quitting the team.
With four goals in five games, Berbatov is enjoying his best start to his Reds shirts campaign.
It was not long ago the Bulgarian’s critics were demanding that Ferguson ship Berbatov out and take a massive loss on the 30.75million pounds that Manchester United paid Tottenham Hotspurs for his services on a summer transfer deadline day in 2008, News of the World reports.
It was during Berbatov’s barren run last term that Ferguson wondered whether the Bulgarian was delighted to carry on being the ‘whipping boy’ as United fans joined pundits in dishing out stick to him over his performances.
Berbatov has gradually emerged as United’s most likely goal scorer apart from England striker Wayne Rooney.
“I have been quite thrilled with the way Berbatov continues to perform this season. Lots of questions were asked about him last season, and he was made something of a whipping boy, to the point where he must have wondered if he had a future at Manchester United,” said Ferguson.
“I concede that at times he seemed to struggle, but if you are satisfied about a player’s credentials you must persevere,” he added. (ANI)
