Alex Ferguson London, Apr. 20 (ANI): Manchester United and Newcastle FC managers Alex Ferguson and Alan Pardew have both insisted they were denied penalties as Manchester United missed the chance to go nine points clear.According to The Sun, Referee Lee Probert snubbed Newcastle appeals after Anderson’s tackle on Peter Lovenkrands.

Then he booked Javier Hernandez for a dive in injury time with United convinced Danny Simpson brought him down.

And Red Devils boss Fergie seethed: “If he doesn’t give the penalty, fine. To book him is an insult. I watched it myself and there was definite contact. Chicharito is not the sort of player who would throw himself to the ground.

He added: “I thought the referee had an excellent game but he lets himself down by booking the player.”

Pardew said: “My heart sank - because of the history of United’s last-minute goals, the club they are and who their manager is, I thought the ref would give it. So you have to applaud him for the decision he made, it was the correct one.” Fergie, however, took consolation from Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday. (ANI)
