Alex Ferguson London, Sep 14(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is expecting his striker Wayne Rooney to ‘prove his worth’ in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Scottish champions Rangers at Old Trafford.

“I have no concerns about playing him at all. He will always prove his worth. He is terrific. His performance for England and scoring was as good a boost for him as anything,” The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.

“We expect a good performance from him and look forward to it. I don’t know if the situation will inspire him. He has a lot of experience behind him in these situations.”

“He will be looking forward to it,” he added.

Rooney was earlier dropped from United’s Premier League match against Everton on Saturday.

It was said that Rooney was under intense personal pressure following revelations about his private life, and accusations that he used 1,200 pounds-a-night prostitutes while his wife Coleen was pregnant with son Kai. (ANI)
