Fergie still fears getting the sack from Man U

London, Aug.16 (ANI): Manchester United FC manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he is driven by the fear of failure rather than the expectation of more success.
Sixty-seven-year-old Ferguson, who has been in charge at Manchester United for 23 years, faces Birmingham today, and is bidding this season for his fourth successive Premier League title and 12th in all.
The United boss admitted: “I never think that I am bullet-proof. I work in fear of failure. If we lose on Sunday, that’ll be failure.
“You’ve got to transmit that to the players. Not just what winning means - but what losing means. And losing means more. I’ve got to think that way, because the world waits on complacency,” the Daily Star quotes Ferguson, as saying.
He also believes that every manager is under the same umbrella.
“I would totally endorse the idea of a window in the season, which would be the only time a manager could lose his job. But would chairmen agree to that? We are in a must-win results industry,” he says.
Fergie also hit out at gamesmanship in football and claimed: “Players and professionalism are killing the game.”
“Something has got to be done about it. Three years ago, the managers had a meeting with Keith Hackett, when he was in charge of the referees, and it was agreed that players should not deliberately kick the ball out of play to stop the game when another player had gone down,” he said. (ANI)
