Alex Ferguson London, Apr 6 (ANI): Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told his Real Madrid counterpart Jose Mourinho that he will not leave Old Trafford until the club owners tell him he is too old.

Mourinho wants a return to the Premier League and would love to take over at Manchester United.

Ferguson said: “I’m great friends with Jose and I can understand his desire to come back to England. But it’s a difficult one for me to tell him when this position will become available.”

Ferguson will be 70 on New Year’s Eve, but said that only his health or the club’s owners will tell him when it is time to go, The Sun reports.

“Should they say ‘Alec, you’re too old now, we feel we need a change’, fine. I’ve done my bit here, I’ve had an absolutely fantastic career.

“First of all it will be my health to determine my situation. I will continue as long as I have the energy I’ve enjoyed all my life,” Ferguson said.

“My father retired on his 65th birthday and a year later he was dead. The worst thing you can do is put your slippers on,” he added.

Ferguson expressed his desire to study new languages if he did retire.

“I did four years of German at school, I’ve been studying French for years and I could take on Italian - I already know quite a few sentences,” he said. (ANI)
