Fergie facing FA rap following diatribe against referee

London, Mar. 2 (ANI): Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson faces a rap from the Football Association after launching an astonishing attack on referee Martin Atkinson during his team’s two one loss to Chelsea.
A furious Fergie lashed out after Chelsea’s Frank Lampard’s late penalty shot downed United and blew the Premier League title race wide open again.
Ferguson claimed Atkinson should have sent off Blues’ goal hero David Luiz for clattering England striker Wayne Rooney. Nemanja Vidic was red-carded in injury time.
The Sun quoted Fergie, as saying: “It was a major game, you want a fair referee and we didn’t get that. I don’t know why he got the game. I feared the worst when I saw who was refereeing. It’s three years in a row now where the referee’s decisions have changed the game down here. And that’s hard to take.”
FA chiefs are bound to take a dim view of Ferguson’s blast, especially in the wake of the leniency shown to Rooney after he elbowed Wigan’s James McCarthy last weekend.
Following their latest victory, Chelsea moves back into the top four, 12 points behind United with a game in hand. (ANI)
