Fergie delighted at Gibson’s double

London, Dec. 2 (ANI): Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was simply overjoyed after seeing Darron Gibson’s delightful double goals against Spurs.
He then tipped the mid-fielding pair - Anderson and Darron Gibson - will get their chance in the Carling Cup semis. “We’re two games from Wembley, we’ll enjoy the semi-final and these lads will play again. There are some we got after Besiktas last week. But we didn’t approach it like that, we just went out and played our normal game,” The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.
“That’s probably my most special night in a United shirt, scoring two goals like that. But it was a good team performance,” he added.
Fergie picked Gibson, Danny Welbeck, 19, two 20-year-olds Gabriel Obertan and Ritchie De Laet, plus Anderson, 21.
Gibson, who signed a new three-year contract in the summer, was making only his 12th start for United - seven of them in the Carling Cup.
He was in the side that beat Spurs on penalties in last season’s final - and could be on his way to another winners’ medal after his first-half double.
Skipper Gary Neville said: “Gibbo scored two great goals. But these players are first-team players in their own right now.” (ANI)
