Ferdinand maybe dropped from England World Cup squad, if not fit
May 9th, 2010 - 5:46 pm ICT by ANILondon, May 9 (ANI): England team coach Fabio Capello has said that if Rio Ferdinand is not in good shape, he could be dropped from the World Cup squad.
Rio Ferdinand is in for a hard time if he wants to retain his captaincy of the English squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The Man U defender might even be dropped from the squad owing to his poor physical form of late.
As an alternative, Capellohas zeroed into new favourite Jamie Carragher, News of the World reported.
Carragher will not only be named in the provisional squad of 30, he will make the cut for the final 23.
With Ledley King showing that he is in first-rate physical condition, the pressure is now on the skipper Ferdinand to silence naysayers.
Ferdinand will get his chance in forthcoming friendly matches with Mexico and Japan. He will also be put through exhaustive physical tests. (ANI)
