massaBrazilian Formula 1 racer Felipe Massa is said to be in stable condition now and is improving for the better. According to reports, his condition has been on path of recovery following the surgery that had to be performed on him right after the accident.

A Hungarian Defence Ministry spokesperson Istvan Bocskai told the Hungarian media on Monday that Massa is presently being able to communicate as well as move his legs and hands. The statement said, “He’s woken up (from sedation) more and more often now and he’s able to communicate actively, that is, he reacts when he’s talked to. We are optimistic, in our hope a slow recovery is beginning.”

He is reported to be waking up from his sedated state more frequently which is a sure sign that his health condition is improving. On Sunday, Massa was reportedly woken up in order to have a brain scan done, the result of which, when out, was reassuring. According to what Bocskai said, it showed that he is presently out of danger. There has been no statement from the doctors at this stage however.

Ferrari President Luca de Montezemolo is supposed to fly to Hungary on Monday to visit the last year’s championship runner up. When he had been flown to the AEK hospital in Budapest after the accident, Massa was said to be in a very serious, life threatening condition.

The 28 year old was injured in the qualifying F1 race at the Hungarian Grand Prix when a loose car part had hit him on the head. The distraction had caused Massa to crash in to safety tire wall at 190 kph.
