It was Massa’s first race since his fatal head injury during qualifying for July’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
Now, almost fully fit Brazilian driver said: “This is fantastic, even better than I expected. I did well racing against the best drivers in the world. I’m extremely happy.”
Brazilian IndyCar racer Vitor Meira finished third at the International Challenge of the Stars charity event.
And new Williams signing Rubens Barrichello was fourth at the Florianopolis track in southern Brazil.
Crashgate scandal driver Nelson Piquet Jnr found himself in more trouble. His kart hit problems and he could only finish 21st out of 25.
The event was organised by Massa, who must now go on to face the new challenge of having double world champ Fernando Alonso as his Ferrari team-mate in 2010. (ANI)
