Felipe Massa Injured In Accident At Hungarian Grand Prix

felipe massaJust last week, an accident on the tracks had claimed the life of young Henry Surtees and now the reports of Felipe Massa’s accidents comes in, bringing with it a tide of grief. Massa is said to have met with the accident while he was contesting in the Formula 1 race in the qualifying rounds of the Grand Prix in Hungary.

Following the accident, he was quickly airlifted and taken off to the AEK Hospital in Budapest. He is reported to have suffered from a skull fracture acquired during the crash. After the surgery was performed, he is said to be in a stable condition during the observation but his state remains serious.

Ferrari officially released a statement following the accident, on the condition of Massa’s state saying, “After the accident during the qualifying session of the Grand Prix of Hungary,Felipe Massa was airlifted to the AEK hospital in Budapest. Felipe was conscious at the time of arrival at the hospital and his general conditions remain stable. Following a complete medical examination it emerged that he had suffered a cut on his forehead, a bone damage of his skull and a brain concussion. These conditions need to be operated on after which he will remain under observation in intensive care.”

Reportedly, the accident had occurred when a spring had come off loose from the car of Brawn GP, which was driven by Rubens Barrichello (Brazil). This was the spring that played out the part of Massa’s nemesis and hit him on his head, following which his car was led to crash in to the tyre wall.

The automobile was at a speed of 170 miles per hour, therefore the impact of the collision was grievous.
