felipoSt Louis, Apr 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Felipe Lopez of St. Louis Cardinals took the position of the pitcher in the 18th innings of the Saturday night Major league Baseball game between New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals. It seemed that the St. Louis Cardinals which had used all its seven relief pitchers in the seventeen innings wanted to bring to use the versatility of Felipe Lopez and Joe Mather.

It seemed however for Felipe Lopez who is an infielder in the team, the job of a pitcher was a tough one as he struggled to get a lead in the game for his team. In the Saturday night game both the teams failed to score points till the 18th innings. The pitching of Felipe Lopez made it evident that the player has not played in the position for a long time. The assumption of many was validated by the player himself who went on to say that he has not pitched a ball in the game since little game.

However, the player who had signed this year with the St. Louis Cardinals tried to put forward a great play and if not help his team to score a point he even did not allow the opponent to score much. In the 18th innings in which Felipe Lopez pitched the New York Mets failed to score any points. He pitched 21 pitches and gave only a hit and a run during his pitching which was however tackled well by his teammates. During the game Felipe was first placed at the short stop and then moved to the third base and then the pitch.
