Dec. 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The night of Heisman Trophy award has always been one of the most pompous events of college football. Young footballers from all college teams along with several former players of the game, were invited to this grand ceremony that honors the best college footballer of the year. This year, luck favored Alabama running back player, Mark Ingram and he gave Alabama their first Heisman Trophy. Though everyone congratulated the player after winning the trophy, Mark Ingram’s father’s absence in the event was a much talked about issue.

Mark Ingram’s father, Mark Ingram Sr. was a talented football player and his absence was felt during the ceremony. Mark Ingram Sr. could not attend the ceremony for some legal problems that landed him in jail. According to the reports, though he could not attend the ceremony, he watches every match of his son in jail and has always asked his son to be himself, without the pressure of having to ape anyone. The former footballer suggested his son to learn from his mistakes and lead a better life.

Mark Ingram Sr. has been a great motivator for his son and has inspired him to play better. His absence made the young player emotional and he thanked his father for guiding him in every step. Mark Ingram’s voice was choked with emotion and he said that since he was ‘a baby’ his father has been a part of him. He shared some memories of his childhood and said that Mark Ingram’s Sr. has shaped his life. Mark Ingram had an excellent season this year and fans are hopeful to see his consistency in the coming matches of his career just as well.
