Madrid, June 3 (DPA) The fans of Barcelona are keen to see their club increase their offer for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
On Wednesday Arsenal rejected a first formal offer from Barca of around 35 million euros (42.78 million dollars) for the 23 year-old midfielder.
An online opinion poll taken by Catalan paper Sport shows, Thursday, that 62 per cent of readers believe that Barca should increase their offer to the Gunners.
Other opinion polls and fan chat sites clearly show that most Barca fans see the return of Fabregas to Catalonia as a priority.
Sport claimed Thursday that the signing “is entering into the decisive phase.”
Fabregas learnt his trade in the Barca youth sections but was lured away to Arsenal at the age of 16, before he had signed a professional contract with Barca.
He has made it clear to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that he would now like to return to the Camp Nou and that, if possible, he would like his future decided before the World Cup finals begin next week.
Fabregas has been out injured since March 31, after breaking his right shin playing against Barca in the Champions League.
Even so, he has been included in Spain’s World Cup squad and will return to action in Thursday’s friendly against South Korea in Innsbruck, Austria.
