London, Mar 22 (ANI): Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas is convinced his club can overcome his boyhood heroes Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals, and also lift the Premier League title.
All the odds are stacked against Arsenal in their Champions League showdown with the reigning European champions, Barcelona.
Now with seven games left in the Premier League title run-in and Barcelona next up in the Champions League, Fabregas says Arsenal are ready to come of age, and firmly believes they can win both competitions.
“A lot of people said we would not make it. They thought we’d be in the position of Liverpool in terms of fighting for fourth spot this season. But I was definitely not one of those people. I have always said if I don’t believe I can win something, I wouldn’t play football. I play football to win and enjoy and that is what I am doing here.
“It is very exciting. We are going to play against the best team in Europe, probably in the world. The boys are really looking forward to it as it is another opportunity to play against a great team in a great stadium. It will be very exciting,” The Mirror quoted Fabregas, as saying.
“But at the moment we have won nothing. In the League there are seven games and in the Champions League we have two games coming up. That is what you have to do if you want to be champions,” he added.
