Dec 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michael Ricketts, former forward for England and Bolton has been charged with the assault of a woman after losing his temper with her at a celebration of his thirty second birthday.

According to witnesses, Michael called his female companion a number of expletives, and threw her against a car after stomping outside. He was said to have also head butted the woman, and punched her. She was left with bruises to her face.

Police had to use a taser to subdue the footballer, and cuffed him for assault. According to a restaurant employee’s account to the ‘Sun’, “One of the officers stood in the door of the restaurant with his Taser and I could see the red light. At first it was pointing at a man who just tried to help, but then the officer realised that was the wrong man so he turned it at the right man. At that point, he just put his hands straight up and they arrested him.”

Ricketts is due in court later in the month.
