Dec. 06, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Evan Turner, star of the Ohio State University’s Buckeyes, sustained grave injuries when he fell down during a game against Eastern Michigan. 13 minutes and 22 seconds was left in the first half of the game when Evan Turner drove a lane and was fouled as he tried to go for a dunk. He narrowly missed the dunk and was watched by the horrified spectators as he hung precariously on the rim, with his feet almost horizontal to his body. After staying that way for a few minutes, he let go and fell on the ground, landing on his back. He lay motionless for sometime, and when it became evident that he could not walk unsupported, some of the other players carried him away.
The junior swing-man was taken to the Ohio State University Medical Center. The medical tests and the X-rays showed that the player had sustained fractures in his spinal cord, in the third and the second lumbar vertebra. No other injuries has yet been diagnosed. Unfortunately though, Evan Turner will not be able to play in any of the matches for the next two months at least, as he has been ordered complete rest.
The unexpected mishap comes as a big blow for the Ohio State University basketball team. Evan Turner was admittedly one of the most talented players in the team of the University right now. However, the coach of the team, Thad Matta put away that concern for that time being and commented that the most important cause for concern for the team right now is the quick recovery of Evan Turner.
