Evan Lysacek Grabs Gold In Men’s Figure Skating Event

eavnVancouver, British Columbia, Feb 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American figure skater Evan Lysacek enthralled the audiences with his stunning performance at the Winter Olympics which enabled him to win the much coveted gold medal in the men’s figure skating long program on Thursday. The victory for the 24 year old skater was indeed special as he became the first American man to win the gold medal in the championship in 22 years.

Not only was the American successful in mesmerizing the audiences as well as the judges with his dramatic performance, he also brought to an end an 18 year domination of Russia in the much anticipated event. With his final score of 257.67 points, Evan Lysacek left behind defending champion Russian Yevgeny Plushenko, who managed to score 256.36 points and took home the silver medal. The bronze medal went to four time Japanese national champion Daisuke Takahashi with 247.23 points. However, it was the surely the American skater who managed to completely steal the show as he continued to impress the audiences throughout with his performance. Moreover, while talking about his amazing feat in the event, Evan Lysacek emphasized that his main intention was to make his moves look extremely easy although it surely included few hugely difficult parts. At the same time, the 2009 World champion, who was visibly delighted to have achieved the feat added that this was the best moment of his life.

Meanwhile, many thought that the American skater chose to give a risk-free performance as he did not showcase a quadruple jump. However, the choices that he made surely went in his favor as judges ultimately chose him as the winner of the championship.
