European champ Audley says UK’s Haye won’t beat Klitschko brothers
April 15th, 2010 - 11:03 am ICT by ANILondon, Apr.15 (ANI): New European champion Audley Harrison has said that British boxer David Haye has next to no chance of unifying the world heavyweight title by beating the Klitschko brothers — Vitali and Wladimir.
Harrison, who revived his career with a spectacular 12th-round knockout of Michael Sprott last week, was quoted by The Sun, as saying that WBA title-holder Haye may want to fulfill his dream of becoming the undisputed champion by beating WBC champion Vitali and taking the IBF and WBO belts from his younger brother Wladimir, but would be left disappointed.
“Haye will have a puncher’s chance against the Klitschkos, but that’s about it. He’s far too open to cause too many problems for the top heavyweights. Being so open might make Haye exciting, but that style has the Klitschkos champing at the bit to fight him,” The Sun quoted Harrison, as saying further.
Harrison, 38, has exploded back on the fight scene 10 years after winning an Olympic gold medal and still believes he can win the world heavyweight title.
Harrison’s world title dream, however, has been put on hold for four months, as he has to undergo shoulder surgery.
He has ruptured a pectoral during last week’s clash with Sprott. (ANI)
