As the Centre Court at Wimbleton heats up for its opening match where all eyes will be on Roger Federer, viewers all over US will savor the tension as 100 hours of live coverage of the matches will be shown on ESPN2; for the first time ESPN2 promises to deliver the coverage through the high definition format. It will be followed by highlights after each match.
The Wimbledon Open that will be held from June 22 to July 5, is one of the most happening grand slams that intrigues almost all tennis sport enthusiasts worldwide. Earlier, only deferred broadcast of the matches have come to ESPN2 that reduces the interest among people over the channel’s viewership.
However, viewers around US are not very pragmatic regarding this coverage, as earlier they have had discontent with poor image quality. As the Grand slam will also be broadcast live on ESPN, Tennis channel and NBC, it can be assumed that most people will be preferring the above three networks over ESPN2.
The tension would rise from June 30, which marks the beginning of the quarterfinal matches; viewers are not ready to comprise with poor quality coverage. Since ESPN, Tennis Channel and NBC have been catering excellent service to its viewers during the grand slam earlier, it is beyond doubt that ESPN2’s broadcast has to superb to match up to the standard of its three competitors.
Every year the grand slam, scheduled for 13 days, begins at a Monday and ends on a Tuesday in between which one Sunday is the rest day. This year, all eyes will be on the last year’s finalists Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

I was disgusted today to find that Roger Federer’s second round match was interrupted for an interview of another player while the game was going on. We tune in to watch the play, not to listen to interviews. I know Federer was expected to win, but people still like to watch him in action. Please change this practice in future.
