Eric MaynorDec 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Eric Maynor has been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunders from the Utah Jazz basketball team in a deal that has given the Utah Jazz the German League player Peter Fehse. Eric Maynor is the rookie point guard of the team. The deal, in which the Utah Jazz team has been the loser so far, having to give up two of the most talented players in the team, had been conducted mostly keeping in mind the soaring luxury tax problems the Utah Jazz has been facing.

The rookie point guard of the team, Eric Maynor, had been one of the highest paid members in the team. His contract, and that of Matt Harpring had exceeded the salary cap scale of the team, and had sent the team into the luxury cap territory. Matt Harpring too has been sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of the deal, along with Eric Maynor. So far, the only team that has the salary cap scale that can accommodate the expense of Matt Harpring and Eric Maynor, is the Oklahoma City Thunders.

It has obviously been a bad deal for the Utah Jazz. In order to cut down on the luxury tax that they have been paying for the last few years, the team have had to welcome the German League prospect Peter Fehse, and so far, the exchange does not seem to be an equal one. The coach of the Utah Jazz himself commented that giving up the rookie guard had been a very difficult decision for the team, and it is going to take its toll on the overall performance of the team.
