English Premier League defenders are animalistic: RobinhoDecember 18th, 2008 - 7:13 pm ICT by ANI
London, Dec 18 (ANI): Manchester City striker Robinho has accused English Premier League defenders of being animalistic.
The Brazilian striker revealed that he has been given a kicking since signing from Real Madrid for a record 32.5million pounds in the summer, The Sun reported.
Robinho said: English football is played at dizzying speed. I have got used to the cold but it is more difficult to play when it is raining.
I thought I would find it harder to adapt than I have. But I havent got used to the kickings Ive taken! When I first came over I was surprised the referees did not even blow for a foul when I was kicked in animalistic style. It was truly unbelievable. But I am playing well despite being kicked so much and I have scored nine goals, he said.
Robinho hopes to play a part in Citys final UEFA Cup group tie at Spaniards Racing Santander tonight.
And he wants to be involved in Sundays Premier League trip to West Brom with the Eastlands side lying just outside the relegation zone.
The Samba star, who has struggled with an ankle injury, said: We are doing well in the UEFA Cup. We need to get much better in the league. Our squad is good and possesses quality but we are still lacking a lot of cohesion. (ANI)
