England team right behind Terry: Crouch

London, Mar 24 (ANI): Ace striker Peter Crouch has said that the England squad is right behind John Terry following his reappointment as captain of the national team.

Terry was axed as Three Lions skipper last year over an alleged affair with the ex-girlfriend of Wayne Bridge.

But injuries to Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard have left England boss Fabio Capello short of candidates to captain his side, The Sun reports.

“We’re pleased for John and the captaincy. There have been no problems and we move on. There was a lot of talk over unrest, but it was not an issue at all. John Terry has always been fantastic on the pitch, he has led Chelsea to Doubles,” Crouch said.

“He’s a great leader on the pitch and will be again for England. The manager likes defenders to be the captain and John has done it for so long. He’s been at Chelsea for years and has been captain for a long, long time,” he said.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve and tries to bring out the best in all others around him, which is why he is such a leader. All the players are happy,” Crouch said.

Manchester City midfielder James Milner has also backed Capello’s decision to hand Terry the England armband again.

Milner claims Capello retains the full confidence of the England dressing room despite the row over his handling of the captaincy issue. (ANI)
