England spinner Panesar may play for S. Africa’s Highveld Lions
October 3rd, 2009 - 11:58 am ICT by ANILondon, Oct.3 (ANI): Out of favour England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar could be on his way to play for the South African franchise Highveld Lions.
Talks are on to sign Panesar on a short-term deal, and an announcement is expected shortly, The Sun reports.
Lions coach Dave Nosworthy said: “We are talking to Monty and hope to finalise things in the next couple of days. But we’re still in final stages of negotiation.”
Panesar, who has taken 126 wickets in 39 Tests, could use this opportunity to reignite his England career. He has slipped down the pecking order behind Graeme Swann and Adil Rashid. (ANI)
